Geology

Short characteristics of the site: This locality occurs in a deep cut valley of the Devil´s Brook (also Zábrdka Brook). This locality forms a part of outstanding feature called "Velká Čertova zeď - the Great Devil´s Wall". This volcanic rock belongs to younger stage of Tertiary volcanic activity in Europe. This basaltic rock was because of its hardness and stability quarried and used for local building purposes.
